We have officially dropped the dust bunny short.
Several reasons are behind the decision. Mainly, we don't have enough time to nail down a story. Second, we found this animation - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCA7C9p8PYU
Our hopes dropped further. This animation resembled our idea too much. So we just dropped it. Quit while we can.
Immediately, we approached Chelsea about using her idea of a Narcoleptic Lamp Post. She agreed, and we have been running with that ever since. The story has changed several times, and as of now we are stuck between two different stories. The stories I really wish I could share with you today, however we had a mishap with out meeting on Tuesday. Alex Alvarado and James Sharp are both boarding out their stories. The stories we felt were the strongest.
In a summary: James Sharp had an idea of a a little girl walking up to a bus stop with a bench and a lamp post. The lamp post oddly enough had a switch on it. Out of curiosity, the girl flipped the light switch and the whole environment changed. Initially the environment changed into a bright and fun place, but then everytime the switch was flipped.. the environment got scarrier and darker.
Alex Alvarado's story was about a lonely man and a bird. The lonely man lived in a little house by himself, and he kept on trying to switch the lights off, including a near by lamp post. Though, whenever he did a bird would fly out of his nest that was on top of the lamp post and played with the wiring to get the lamp on again. This would be an ongoing battle. Finally the old man realized the bird had a single egg in his nest. Suddenly, the old man puts together that the bird wants the lamp on to keep his/her egg warm. A change of heart occurs in the man, and he builds a nice little bird house for the bird. The bird house is placed right on top of the nest.. which is on top of the lamp post.
As you can see, we have derived from the idea of the Narcoleptic Lamp Post, but we're still using the Lamp Post as a key element in the story. There were several other ideas pitched, but like I said, the two mentioned are our final choices. On Friday we will be deciding the final story after seeing the boards, and continuing from there.
On top of this, we will be coming up with a group/blog/project/team name and creating a new blog based off of that on Friday. Then I will be uploading all the boards, individual story ideas, concept work, reference materials, color keys, inspiration that we have gathered together these past two weeks.
Any and all input is highly appreciated
